FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Great question! We hold multiple tryouts at different times of the year for each season.

Tryouts for Spring Teams are held the prior November/December. (e.g. Spring 2025 tryouts are held in Nov-Dec. 2024)

Tryouts for Summer Teams are held in April/May.

Tryouts for Fall Teams are held in July/August.

Please fill out the New Player Interest form above to be added to our contact list for future tryout sessions, or to potentially arrange a private evaluation.

  • We expect to field teams from the 8U division and older, though there are some special cases at certain age groups for each season (e.g. 15-18U players opting to play for their High School team in the Spring; College team is Summer season only).

At some age groups we will field multiple teams based on the amount of players interested in participating.

  • While specific schedule details will vary from team to team, here is a general sense of the time commitment for our baseball teams:

Spring - Teams will have Indoor Winter Workouts twice a week in February & March. We transition to outdoor practices in early April for the rest of the season. Games are primarily in the format of weekend doubleheaders, beginning at the end of March/start of April, and continuing through the first weekend of June.

Summer - Season begins in early June and runs into early August. Teams can expect to have multiple weeknights of games and/or practices each week, along with some weekend doubleheaders.

Fall - Teams will begin practices and games after Labor Day, and continue through the end of October, or early November (weather permitting). Games are again primarily in the format of weekend doubleheaders.

We understand that many players have busy schedules not limited to just baseball, and we do not mandate 100% attendance at practices/games to maintain your roster spot. As a general philosophy, we offer two practices a week during Spring/Fall seasons in the hope that every player can make at least one session to ensure they are getting enough baseball development.

  • Our aim is to always field a competitive team and find appropriate (and local) opponents to play to create a challenging yet rewarding team experience.

We have fielded teams in all talent levels of GHVBL Divisions in the past, and while winning is nice, the bottom line is we are always focused on finding the best fit for each team to promote development and growth in our players from one season to the next.

  • Most of our teams usually participate in at least one local tournament each season.

For teams at older age levels that are ready to be challenged against higher-level competition, we do look to incorporate some more tournament play into our schedule based on what we believe is appropriate for each team.

Our teams in the past have participated in tournaments at the following venues:

Baseball Heaven (Long Island), Connecticut Sportsplex (North Branford CT), Diamond Nation (NJ), Firecracker Sports, Maplezone Sports Institute (PA), New York Elite (Newburgh NY area), The Rock Sports Park (Chester NY), USABL (NJ), Perfect Game (NY/NJ venues), and Ripken Aberdeen (MD).

  • New players will receive a HEAT jersey top, hat, and socks.

We do not provide pants - players should supply their own. White pants are preferred, but grey is also acceptable.
